did you see that there are only week connections from Europe to the U.S. regarding top level of hierarchy. 
I would definitely suggest rethink positions of this level. You will only survive if you know the right people for the right issues at the right time.The boundary spanners are centralized controlled. In the U.S. they communicate much more and the boundary spanner has got exclusively outgoing connections, wheras in Europe the boundary spanner has three ingoing and only one outgoing connection. For me it seems like in Europe he is expected to play this role and in the U.S. he is really pleased to have this position, not only because he is in a better position but also because he is outgoing connected to hierarchy level 4 in the second degree. Regarding the EGO-networks of those two show the same content. In the U.S. he is giving information on his own, in Europe he is asked for information, another reason to rethink the connected positions. Furthermore the two connected boundary spanners are from Boston and Oslo, the guy from Oslo is quite good connected, but only to Paris and Oslo. The segments in which all of them are working is either politics or pharmaceutical, these guys seem to be the hubs in this whole network, besides some outliers.
