Social Networking in Business

During my research on the opportunities and threats of social networking in business I came across a very interesting and informative article about social networking.

"Network Citizens: Power and Responsibility at Work" by Peter Bradwell and Richard Reeves was published by the UK-based think tank Demos on the 29th October 2008.

The article describes the present situation of social networks, their importance in business and in general. It states lots of benefits as well as many fault-lines of social networking. The article is based on the research of social networks in six different organizations and is hence a great combination of theory and case study.

I think the article makes it clear that social networking in business is nowadays unavoidable, that it is something that can yield great benefits for an organization, but that the downsides also shouldn’t be underestimated.

The website of the think tank Demos also contains other interesting things on social networking.

Interesting article. Note the Creative Commons copyright (if you've never seen one) and the fact that the article was funded by Orange, the mobile phone company.
