How Social Networks Benefit Organizations

After a week surfing in the Internet and discovering new arguments for and against social networking, I have found 3 the most interesting sources, concerning SN. (All of them have their own advantages, so there is no the best one).

1. How Online Social Networks Benefit Organizations
By Lisa Kimball and Howard Rheingold
http://www.groupjazz.com/pdf/osn.pdf

Howard Rheingold, the acknowledged authority on virtual community and author of The Virtual Community (1993. A new edition of The Virtual Community was published by the MIT Press in November, 2000) leads an international team of experts, working together online. Rheingold Associates offers guidance in creating and maintaining sustainable social networks, teamwork spaces, and virtual conventions.

Do you know where the organization can get the biggest payoff?
This 15 pages- pdf gives the arguments why online social networking is a key part of management strategy for most organizations, thus bringing a sustainable competitive advantage to the company. However, some of the statements rest on dubious assumptions so I am looking forward to discuss this article with you.

2. Social Networks: Execs Use Them Too
Special Report September 11, 2006, 2:15PM EST CEO Tech guide Business week By Rachael King

Does the Networking technology give companies a new set of tools for recruiting and customer service? This Special Report gives additional information about how Social networking technology also can help businesses.

I like animations they make. There is another great, short video that communicates the concepts and practical use of the social networking. To make the link clear and easy for your friends who want to know more about SN but do not speak English use this link http://dotsub.com/view/3d2a8e25-fca0-465d-83e0-3c2ceca3e6a9 dotSUB - Any Video Any Language.
