Crime-busting SNA

The Huffington Post reports that police are using social network analysis to track down criminals as well as deter future attacks. Entrepreneurial private technology firms like SAS Institute Inc. of North Carolina are teaching officers how to scrape and analyze tetrabytes of data point into "patterns of interest". SAS software can also help investigators visualize a suspects connections and locate data to more quickly and efficiently locate suspects. Other creative private firms are pushing the limits of using social media for intelligence purposes. A college campus police investigator for example, friends his targets with fake profiles in order to monitor their activities closely. Now that's a creepy thought.
