SNA-COMPLAINTS AGAINST BAYER IN FRANCE FOR PILLS

COMPLAINTS AGAINST BAYER IN FRANCE FOR PILLS

Cristina Escabias

Background:

Marrion Larat, young French woman realized that the contraceptive pill she was taking, was the reason for her stoke in 2006. The pill she took was Meliane pil produced by Bayer laboratories.
She complained for the personal injuries caused to her, as well as for the pill not being immediately removed from the market. The removal of the pill is so important because another 1.7 million women in the country also use this pill.

Objective:

Remove Meliane pill from the market, by finding all the women who are users of the pill.

Central question:

How to connect to all the 1.7 million women which are users of this pill?

Methodology:

The most important goal will be to find all the 1.7 million women who are users of the pill. Visits to doctors and pharmacies will be required to get our surveys answered. This would give us the basic information we need.  After we have gathered this information, we are able to contact all the women and let them know that they should check if the pill caused them any side effects. For all this research, we will need a social networking analysis.

Data needed to be measured:

-Age
-Geographical location
-Which effect do women show?
-Health status
-Psychographic factors

Conclusion:

The Social Networking Analysis can provide us insight into the problem and its causes. First of all, we would know if this problem affected only this one woman as an isolated case, or does it really show up with more women. And therefore, we can decide whether or not the pill must be removed from the market.

This is more a survey than an SNA. You yourself asked the key question: how are all these 1.7 mio people connected, other than they all took the pill?
