Social media as a "must have weapon" in the war for talent

Fabian Henrich:

Social media is used by recruiters not only to spy on a candidate's facebook profile to find out about any "skeleton in the closet", but more and more to get in touch with talented people to hire.

As e.g. in Germany, the US and several other parts of the world we are already facing a lack of skilled labor, it becomes more and more crucial for companies to have access to talented and well-trained people. Nowadays business success is dependent on whether you are able to recruit good people or not! Therefore social media can be a powerful and efficient tool to get in contact and stay in contact with potential candidates for your business.

The article below is one out of a whole lot depicting the relevance of social media like facebook and twitter for recruiting purposes.

Yes, I like this positive outlook. They say, that potential candidates will be "grilled" for their use of "wrong" content in social networking applications. But how about talent management? I support the article's main point and think that talent management should be the main purpose of studying candidate's online profiles.
