Salesforce, a marketing database company, has acquired social networking tools to provide its clients with the ability to further analyze their databases and how their marketing connections connect with one another. This evolution of Salesforce's marketing tools is a demonstration of the increased awareness not of how an organization's internal social network can be engaged to foster success, but of how strategic engagement of that organization's external connections can strengthen it.
